This week's class was unlike any other class you could have imagined - we went to a party!
The day of our usually scheduled class is every Thursday and on this Thursday (2/23), Central Michigan University had a snow day! So the only thing the Gus Macker team had to think about was the Launch Party!
For the past 7 weeks, Madison has been designing and coordinating the 2023 CMU Gus Macker Launch Party. With some help from the special events team, she pulled off a record-breaking launch! Madison, McKenzie, Payton, Donna, Kaitlyn, Shane and T.O. arrived at the venue and started to transform the usual bar scene into a colorful and interactive environment.
Balloons, streamers, money tablecloths - you name it, we had it!
We had 3 rounds of silent auctions, a 50/50 raffle and incredible drink and food deals that people just couldn't resist. Even on a college snow day!
Our promo team of Andrew and Isabel emceed the entire event giving mini staff interviews, announcing the progress of the silent auction and keeping everyone fired up for the launch! Those two have the best personalities for the job and kept our crowd lively and engaged.
One of our very own TAs, Shane Taylor, won our 50/50 raffle and graciously donated the winnings back to our program! See T.O “making it rain” as Shane was announced the winner. Thank you, Shane!
Oh, and didn’t I mention RECORD BREAKING?!
Between the 50/50 raffle, wristbands, and the silent auction, we raised $5,066. This is the most money that we have ever raised in the eight year history of the pre-tournament event!
