WEEK 14 - Watching The Weather!

Now we are about a week away from tournament weekend! More logistics and prepping to be done! Last minute questions are being answered, schedules are being arranged and we are watching the forecast like hawks.

Being the first outdoor Michigan tournament of the season, there is always a risk with weather. And for our Michiganders, you will know those risks can be from freezing temperatures and snow to extreme heat or thunderstorms.

(This years tournament layout)

We went over the “what ifs” of the tournament that revolved around weather and how we would accommodate all of the teams in each scenario. Speaking of teams, we had a crazy eventful registration week!

T.O. went through the back end operations of the registration process and how it kept him and Gus up most nights watching the teams file in.

Here is the timeline of registration that kept us all on our toes!

  • 1st deadline closes - 166 teams

  • Extended deadline - 168 teams (by 10pm the next night)

  • Then… 113 HOURS WITH NO TEAMS REGISTERING

  • Extended deadline closes - 196 teams

  • A team drops due to low registration in an age group - 195 teams

  • 2 teams added that had registration issue - 197 teams

Due to the weekend inevitably being hectic (in the best way possible), our T.A Kaitlyn made a survival guide of sorts for everyone working the tournament. The guide includes court schedules, emergency contacts, outfit cheat sheets and so much more! We are so grateful to put this to use during tournament weekend. Thank you, Kaitlyn!🙂

Our team finished up the night with running through our dance and running it flawlessly! We are ready to crush the opening ceremony! STAY FIRED UP!
