This week, and from here on out, we are all focused on our amazing Court Captains! You will see them on tournament weekend scattered throughout the courts around Finch putting their hoops knowledge to work!
To lead up to the tournament weekend, the whole class has been taking quizzes that are filled with questions about tournament rules. We play it as a fun game to win prizes (best and worst win!), but it is also a way for all of us to learn the rules and make sure that we are prepared for event weekend.
So, I thought it would be fun for all of you to play along with us! See how many Gus Macker Neighborhood Court rules you know! I'll leave the answers at the end :)
Our Court Captains aren't expected to man the courts alone of course, they get a trusted partner to help them in any capacity needed. We could not do this without our volunteers! We discussed what is expected of volunteers and of the rest us as we get ready for April 29-30! Check out all of the logistics that go into being a volunteer for the day!
We also discussed what's important to prepare us for that day and that was done with the Suzi Tengen’s fanny pack talk. Usually, Suzi would come into the class herself and speak of the various items needed, but we unfortunately lost her two years ago. Her legacy lives on in her fanny pack and her special Macker cookies! She had a recipe that she would bring for the class and Lori continues this tradition today!
And of course, we ended the night with some dancing! It is really coming together now and you won't want to miss it during this year’s Opening Ceremonies!
